It was so much fun checking out this old boat at the end of the road. After we realized how cool it was I had to run back to the house and get Bens wooden pipe. We talked about how much fun it would be to take off a year to sail around the world. To bad we know nothing about sailing haha.
I think its time to plan our next adventure.
Its never to late to visit a church.
It doesn't matter which one.
You don't have to be religious.
Enjoy the peace and tranquility.
Shut out the world for a while.
Take the time to explore your spirituality.
You’ll be surprised.
~ Patrick Lindsey
During our last trip to Europe we went to see a few Churches. the size alone of these man-made buildings were incredible. We were lucky to travel with Dominique, Bens cousin who is completing her seminary schooling in Slovakia. It was like getting a private tour of history listening to all her knowledge about what we were seeing.
Every day, make another move forward what makes you happy. Take another step toward adventure. Let another piece of your special sort of weirdness out.
Before you know it, you’ll be in a very different place- a far more interesting place.
Everyday we try to take one step toward the future we want. A couple years ago we realized, we have the power and can make our life the way we want it. We are the makers of our own destiny. That was a huge realization. We set out a dream that consisted of 1, 5 and 10 year goals. Together we decided what was important for our future. Little by little we accomplished steps and little by little we started changing our life course.
Now we are seeing things change in our life because of these little steps. I feel like, holy cow everyone needs to know this life secret! You can have the life that you want if you keep your goals in mind every day with every choice you make.
What are your 5 year goals/dreams? don't be shy .....
This is what happens when you live with an artist!
Between us living way out of town and both just loving the solitary of our home we get cabin fever sometime. Living out of town is the best! For Ben the 30 min drive from town is the perfect way to decompress from "town life".
What do you do to decompress and center yourself?
We are almost all finished dressing up our front yard. I have so many ideas of places I want to create for photos. A few months ago my friend Beth suggested we make “Photo land” out at our place. I think that planted a seed that has been growing all winter.
If you have any great ideas Please post them to this conversation.
I grew up listening to, well I don't know how to describe it how about this, old hippy music. My favorite record is Cat Stevens “Tea for the Tillerman”.
No madder what Ben and I do we try to bring music along. Last time we went Kayaking our friend Kevin put a blu tooth speaker in a dry bag and had it in his boat. That was the weirdest experience paddling down the Missouri River listening to 90’s rock. Of course everyone was singing along.
I can wait to do that again.
This was a day before my brother took Ben to his favorite Turkish barber shop. At this point we have been backpacking for a while. We were both looking a little scraggly and tired.
I can just imagine my brother walking Ben into the shop saying “look what I brought you”
Ben said it was one of the best experiences ever. He is always on the hunt for the perfect haircut and beard trim. It was definitely an adventure.
Where do you go to freshen up?
Boy am I glad we are getting rid of the dead trees. There was a huge fire across the river from us. I can't believe how dry everything is. We are cleaning up our front yard to not only make it less of a fire hazard but to add to our photo paradise. I honestly had no idea how many beautiful spaces that were hiding in our front yard. When everything is blooming and the work is done I will make sure to post a photo but for now it is a work in progress.
Adventure on my friends.
I am not talking a trip for work, competitions, family reunions or anything else that involves obligations you have to be at. I am talking about a trip that you can choose how to spend your time. After talking to some of our friends, I found out that it's not unusual to not go on a trip since your honeymoon.
We all deserve and need to take a break.
A trip doesn't have to cost a bazillion dollars. We are so lucky that in North Dakota there is so much to do. You can take a trip to Madora and use the byways, visit the peace gardens up north or stay in a new town just to try a unique restaurant. I think it is so important to explore our state for our personal adventures.
For your dream personal adventure where would you like to go? and what would you do there?
We had an epic day of tree chopping this weekend. It was so great to get the big dead old tree out of our driveway. Our neighbors even came over to help us clean it up. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic community. It was a tricky tree. We had to nock 1/2 of it down between the garage and house and the other 1/2 had to fall on the road. My dad was bragging about how he knew exactly where it was going to fall. I was questioning his accuracy so he put a stick on the ground and said “Im going to hit that stick.” I couldn't believe it he hit that sucker dead center! I need to stop underestimating his Canadian mountain man skills. We have so many more trees to cute down but thats an adventure for another day.
Did you have an adventure this weekend?
