You are the protagonist and author of your life’s story. Perfect? No one is. Compelling? We all can be, if our hearts drive the plot. Be a character worthy of the ages.
Our trip to Judge C.R. Magney State Park was a success. Man was it cold though. It rained almost the entire time but that just made the hike even better. The waterfalls we hiked to were spectacular with all the rain.

This weekend Ben and I are going to camp in northern Minnesota with a few friends. Don't worry we are going to document the entire trip to share with all of you. We are almost done planning meals and packing equipment. I can’t wait to get out there and smell the fresh Minnesota air. I have to admit when my friend warned us about black bears in the area today my mind quickly flashed to Me, Ben, Amanda and her husband Ivan sitting in our tent wide awake paralyzed with fear listening to heavy bear breaths on the outside of the thin wall. We hear the sound of a candy bar crinkle over in Ivans direction. He looks wide-eyed at the three of us holding half of a snickers in his hand and the other half in his right cheek…… then I had a flash to Leo and his bear experience in The Revenant.
Sorry I thought you would be the one who would cause our death by Snickers Ivan. Imaginations are a crazy thing. Wish us luck! I have a bird feeder right out side my office window and this little guy is starting to visit every day. He is significantly smaller then the other squirrels and has a gimpy right arm. He can still do all the things other squirrels do he is just a little uncoordinated. Leave it to us to find ANOTHER animal with a special circumstance haha. I will keep food out there and keep an eye on him.
What should we name him? Ben and I take ours EVERYWHERE. We recently went to a graduation party for one of our seniors and before hand was racking our minds on what to get her for a graduation gift. We eventually came to the conclusion that this was the best gift in the world!
What is the thing you cant leave the house without? “Mabelle Lisa”
Be young at heart. It doesn't mean fighting against time. We must grow. we can even age. But we can stay young in heart and mind. Look with young eyes. Love with a young heart. Recapture the wonderment. Look forward with hope and optimism. Have you ever met someone that helps you grow every time you are with them. Lisa is this friend to me. She is driven, strong, creative, and inspiring. It is so important to surround yourself with people like this. Someone told me you are the average of the 7 people you surround yourself with the most. Think about who you spend most of your time with. Now think about your goals. Who is this person in your life? Who is your dream enforcer? Every year my aunt comes to visit and stay at my parents for a few months. She usually comes in May with the soul purpose to garden her heart out. Every spring their yard explodes into a wonderland of textures and colors. Just about every week she and whomever her garden accomplice is at the time goes to a new greenhouse to fill the back seat of her car. This week I was the accomplice.
When we arrived at the Baldwin Greenhouse just off of highway 83 I was so impressed. Not only did they have a vast and beautiful selection but everyone had a little wagon to gather their handpicked favorites. It was so cute! I was mesmerized by the Black Petunia. It looked like it was cut from black velvet. One of the ladies working said, “well if you think that's neat you need to see the Night Sky Petunia.” They even brought me a stool so I could stand taller to take a better look. Everyone at the greenhouse was extraordinarily friendly. I didn't know that garden people were so nice but apparently that's a thing. Everyone was so willing to help and show me all their favorites. I had a blast and came home with 4 succulents, a tomato plant and a small basil plant. How much did my aunt get? Well, let's just say we filled the back of the car……..again :) What is your favorite flower? Every dawn brings unlimited possibilities, challenges, hope.
Don't be shackled by yesterday. Look ahead with optimism. Create your future afresh. ~ Patrick Lindsay Every morning we wake up and make a breakfast, sit down and enjoy it at the table. We started doing this about 6 months ago and it has noticeably changed our daily outlook on life. What do you do to start your days fresh? Curiosity allows possibilities. It keeps you fresh. It acknowledges mysteries and challenges them. It’s grounded in hope. It validates our existence and fans the inner fire. To be curious is to be optimistic.
-Patrick Lindsay Curiosity often brings us the best adventures. I am so glad I have Ben to push me to explore. Most of the time I am swamped with unnecessary clouds of rules, safety, and doubts. Don't get me wrong these things are important but you can't let them control everything. If you do chances are you will never do anything. Capture Life’s Adventure this summer!
If you aren't going to take us with you make sure to at least take a camera. Document everywhere you explore, everything you do and share it with the world. North Dakota is a beautiful place and there is plenty to see. We were thinking about taking a trip through the byways this summer to experience all the little towns that are often missed. What is your favorite little town in North Dakota and what should we do when we get there? “All your horses are a mirror to your soul. Sometimes you won’t like what you see, sometimes you will.” – B.B.
I love this quote from Buck Brannaman. We can learn a lot from not just horses but all animals. Just having the ability to take care of something and be its lifeline is a huge responsibility. But what responsibility also comes with that a test of patience, perseverance, leadership and many other skills you can take into all aspects of your life. What is something you have learned from your animals? |
