Every year my aunt comes to visit and stay at my parents for a few months. She usually comes in May with the soul purpose to garden her heart out. Every spring their yard explodes into a wonderland of textures and colors. Just about every week she and whomever her garden accomplice is at the time goes to a new greenhouse to fill the back seat of her car. This week I was the accomplice.
When we arrived at the Baldwin Greenhouse just off of highway 83 I was so impressed. Not only did they have a vast and beautiful selection but everyone had a little wagon to gather their handpicked favorites. It was so cute! I was mesmerized by the Black Petunia. It looked like it was cut from black velvet. One of the ladies working said, “well if you think that's neat you need to see the Night Sky Petunia.” They even brought me a stool so I could stand taller to take a better look. Everyone at the greenhouse was extraordinarily friendly. I didn't know that garden people were so nice but apparently that's a thing. Everyone was so willing to help and show me all their favorites. I had a blast and came home with 4 succulents, a tomato plant and a small basil plant. How much did my aunt get? Well, let's just say we filled the back of the car……..again :) What is your favorite flower?
